Install the Linux OpenCOE Kernel

The Linux OpenCOE Kernel provides a runtime environment for OpenCOE which includes Sun Java2 and ActiveState Perl5.

Download COE-KERNEL-1.1.4.1-LINUX_I586.tar.gz from

ftp://rhinohide.cx/pub/rhinohide/opencoe/COE-KERNEL-1.1.4.0-LINUX_I586.tar.gz
The install file is transferred to your local machine.

In the directory which you downloaded the kernel, enter: tar xzf COE-KERNEL-1.1.4.1-LINUX_I586.tar.gz
Unpacks the installation file.

Enter: cd opencoe-1.1.4.1
Change into the installation directory.

Enter: ./setup
Opens the OpenCOE GUI Installer

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "Readme" panel.

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "License" panel.

Read the license.

Select the "I accept ..." option.

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "OpenCOE Environment" panel.

Set the "COE Home" directory.

Set the "COE Component" directory.

Set the "COE Applications" directory.

Set the "COE COTS" directory.

Set the "COE Local User" directory.

Set the "COE Global User" directory.

Set the "COE Local Data" directory.

Set the "COE Global Data" directory.

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "OpenCOE User/Group" panel.

For 1.1.4.1: Do Not Change Any of the Identifiers

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "Packs" panel.

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "Installation Progress" panel.

Select the [Next] button.
Opens the "Unix Installation" panel.

There is a significant pause here while the OpenCOE software completes the installation and configuration.

Select the [Quit] button.
Completes the GUI installation.

Enter: cd ..

Enter: rm -rf opencoe-1.1.4.1
Removes the installation files.

Enter: cd $COE_HOME/tmp

Enter: ./set_passwords.sh
Sets the passwords for the "sysadmin" and "secman" users.

Note: Replace $COE_HOME with the directory you selected during installation
